Artist Statement
Artist Statement- I am a Manchester based artist. In my artwork I aim to capture the subtle and obvious changes in skin tone and complexion using dry, large and quick brushstrokes with the use of oils (and conflicting colours). This is to capture my topic at hand which is masculinity and it’s different perceptions around the world and in different societies. Furthermore, in most paintings I merge the background colours into the portrait painting by featuring the background colours on the person’s face, hair or clothing. This is to highlight the act of men perhaps feeling they need to merge and fit in with societal expectations.
